Tattoo Removal
How does laser tattoo removal work?
First Glance Medical Spa utilizes a Q-switched YAG laser for tattoo removal. The laser fires a focused beam of light into the tattoo in very rapid bursts. This light causes the ink to fracture into tiny particles which are absorbed by the body.
What kinds of tattoos can be treated?
Each tattoo is as unique as the individual who wears it. A tattoo’s color, depth, and chemical composition all affect how well it responds to laser light. In general black, blue, red and dark orange respond relatively quickly to treatments; whereas green, purple, brown, light orange and light blue may require more treatments.
How long do treatments take?
Depending on the tattoo size and the area treated procedure times will vary.

How often will I receive treatments?
Depending on the depth and color some tattoos may fade completely after the first treatment, though most may require more. The average removal takes 3 to 5 visits. Treatments are spaced six to eight weeks apart to give the body sufficient time to fully absorb and eliminate the loosened particles of ink.
Does it hurt?
Most clients state that the removal process feels just like it did when they received the tattoo. However, depending on tattoo location, size, and the patient’s tolerance for discomfort, a topical anesthetic may be applied. Following the procedure the treated area may have pinpoint bleeding, redness, or swelling for several hours.
What is the follow-up treatment like?
The affected area must be covered with Aquaphor or antibiotic ointment, and a dressing for 72 hours.
Are there any side effects?
Side effects are rare. However, if they do occur, they are usually mild and confined to the area treated. |
